I can't believe my little girl is going to be two months old on the 3rd. She has been smiling for awhile now, but mainly because of gas and never as an intentional response to stimulus. Seth and I could not believe how much Ellie change during our visit to Lexington. Being around new people taught her so much. Now we can get her to make big, giggly smiles in response to our own smiles. She loves to lay on her back and take everything in. Play time has gotten longer and become so much fun. She has a lot more happy awake time. Ellie is the most snuggly, precious little thing you've ever seen. She loves to be sung to and have her face against yours.
According to the books I've read, she should be sleeping through the night any time now. Last night she had a seven hour cycle (a cycle being the time that passes from feeding to feeding - hers are usually three hours)! She ate at 8:30 pm and did not wake to feed again until 3:30 am. There is a light on the horizon :)

Catching Up with Friends
We attended the first annual Wildcat Mixer (ha ha!) and could kick ourselves for not thinking to take pictures!! (Charity, Lisa, or Tori - send me some pictures!) We were lucky enough to catch up with some of the best people we know, the Hurleys. Chuck, Amanda, Josh, and Karleigh came with us for lunch. We were sad to miss Chris, who had a nasty bug! We also spent more time with cousin Cassidy - isn't she gorgeous.
Christmas Day
I woke up to the most wonderful site on Christmas morning! Then we headed to Mama Fred's to open gifts. She made everyone beautiful knit scarves, even Lucy! After a big breakfast we went to the Harris' to sing carols and be with family.

Mommy says...
Ellie is getting so big. She is already seven weeks old. I cannot believe my little girl is beginning to out grow some of her newborn clothing. She weighs eleven pounds, up from six pounds eleven ounces at birth. She is slowly getting into her routine and it is starting to pay off. We had one night where she slept for six uninterrupted hours! But a night or two later she woke up every two hours :)
My favorite time of day is first thing in the morning just after she eats. She is very cuddly, smiley, and cooey. We've been trying to get her into rattles, but she's not all that enthralled with them yet. One of her favorite things to do is stand - she can support about 85% of her weight on her legs. (We read in "What to expect during the first year" that leg strength like that is exceptional for a three month old!) She also loves her swing. It plays jungle/island music with little monkies and lions on an overhanging mobile. It's the bomb. She's figured out how to arch her back...this makes controlling fits more interesting.
We're very excited about our first Christmas together. Ellie got to wear her brand new Christmas dress to have her picture made with Santa Claus. We'll take lots of pictures and post them just as soon as we're back from Virginia.

Anabelle update:
So everyone knows, Ellie continues to do very well. Our latest challenge has been instituting a schedule. The road has been a little bumpy but by and large she is getting used to it slowly but surely. She sleeps more at night and has fewer times of inconsolable fussiness as a result.
We are looking forward to our first Christmas with our baby girl. We will be leaving for Lexington, VA Christmas Eve morning to spend the holiday with the Sarah's family. We are planning to return Monday the 29th.
Everyday with Ellie is a reminder of how great God is and the life he has blessed us with. We are especially thankful for all of the love and support of our family and friends.

We're hanging in there!
Hello everyone. We haven't forgotten about the blog. Ellie is doing well. She has moments of fussiness but many more of raw newborn sweetness. :-)) We appreciate everyone's interest in pictures of our precious Ellie.
